Bringing Sexy Back |
Jumping back to my good 'ol friend -ritalovesyou. After switching over to "A Golden Year" when I turned 23, I'm wanting to get back to my roots.
This blog reminds me of the biggest milestones of my life & this is where I want to chronicle the most exciting days to come.
The years captured in "A Golden Year" have been the most challenging personally, professionally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Years of (eventual) positive growth... And I thank God & my loved ones for helping me through. ...But now is a time of great joy & I'm ready to come back to my "original" blog-home. [confessionsofagirl was hacked in 2003]
Making it happen. Reunited and it feels so good.
These are the good times. :)

what's golden |
23 on the 23rd.
For all those who left happy messages for me, enjoyed drinks and dinner, climbed strawberry mountain, and had a filet 'o friday............THANK YOU!
My week back in the bay was so great! Busy as ever... but so great!
It was a week of many firsts: hearing rachel's homily, spengers, strawberry mountain, grad bash, cheeseboard, sake factory, house of curries, use of alumni discount.
Didn't make it to Disneyland, but planning is underway...
new blog underway: http://a-golden-year.blogspot.com
a journal for my 23rd year. |

sunday afternoon |
i have been craving filipino food like no other for the past month, so today, i decided that i needed to get my ass out of Kirkland and find some good eats.
after a few online searches, i decided that i'd go to Kusina Filipina in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle. it was really charming, and the lady that served me was very welcoming. i had a lunch combo plate w/ rice, pancit palabok, adobo, and 2 pieces of lumpia. i now know why andrew takes hella food pictures... i should've brought a camera.
i'd have to say that it was a very satisfying meal. the restaurant was beautifully decorated. there was even french music playing in the background (yeah... it was kinda odd). there was a group of 3 "non-filipinos" sitting at another table. they looked like critics or yelpers. it was kinda weird hearing them talk about flavors and ingredients and comparing filipino food to other ethnic dishes, but from what i overheard, it sounded like they enjoyed their meal. they opted not to try the chocolate meat but had some sinigang instead.
i also got some halo-halo to go and leche flan to bring home to the roomies.
there is something so comforting about filipino food. i felt so at home... and yet, so far away from home. whatever the case, my mom still makes my favorite adobo, palabok, and lumpia... and my lola made the best leche flan.
LCs tropical goodies are still at the top of my list and i am definitely having that when i get back to the bay next weekend. hollah! ----------------------------------------------------- as i was heading home after lunch, i missed the the I-5 freeway entrance and ended up on the West Seattle bridge. i figured i'd be ok since i had nav. i took this as an opportunity to check out a part of seattle i hadn't seen yet (and a part of seattle where the sky was actually blue and not raining at the moment)
i take the Admiral exit after seeing a sign for Alki Beach... and i'm thinking... beach?? let's give this a shot...
so i'm driving through and geez... i could've sworn i was driving in a neighborhood in SF. steep hills. narrow streets. windy roads. and then i hit the intersection of Admiral and California... woo! so i turn right and head down California. Driving down California gave me this clear shot of Puget Sound. it took me to the tip of West Seattle, right along the shore. it was soooooooo beautiful. I eventually pulled over at a vista point, grabbed my halo-halo, and took a seat on a bench overlooking the Sound and the Seattle Skyline. at this point, i really really wished i had brought my camera... but it was really cool to just sit there with some tropical goodness and pause.
i have never seen Seattle that way before, and it was actually a little overwhelming... taking it all in. the thought of being in this new place all by myself (for the most part). the thought of being a part of the real world. feeling what it means to be growing up...
i need more moments like this in my life.
it finally felt like spring in seattle.
i eventually did make it to alki beach. it was like the beach at the end of the embarcadero before you get to the presidio. lots of people running, biking, roller blading... no parking. lol.
after that, i made my way back to the bridge, up Aurora 99 (aka the alaskan viaduct... controversial in its own way), through Greenlake, stopping at Northgate for a snack, driving side streets and state routes back to my home in kirkland.
all-in-all a very pleasant afternoon and a very good weekend. i hope work doesn't kick my ass too much this week.... |
